New (Whump-Free) Art!

It's Bromance-tastic.








The dialogue is pretty much straight from Due South's "Call of the Wild" and it works!


The fire light effects were fun and challenging. And drawing at night means no backgrounds! Yay.

There were a few things that changed from the original sketches. Merlin wasn't whittling for starters. He was just poking the fire with a stick. I was having issues drawing his hands in one frame and it ended up looking like he was holding a knife and I thought, "Hey! Whittling! Balinor whittled!" So that's how that happened.

Oh wow! This is really fantastic! The colouring is just gorgeous and the stars. The stars are incredible. The fire is really lovely and the firelight on their faces is absolutely perfect. Love the dialogue and their expressions. Everything about this is gorgeous and perfect.

I love the shadows on this a lot. And the warm colours from the fire vs the darkness of the night. Oh, and Arthur's face. Everything about it. I love how you draw him, so strong-jawed and gorgeous <3

Thanks! It was tricky because where the blue of the night met the yellow of the fire on their faces, an ugly green line would show up, lol! Had to do some adjusting, heh heh. Thanks for the great comment!

Oh, I was wondering, do you know of a place on livejournal that does prompt for merlin art? I cant seem to find anything, and my muse ran off again. ( the comic was awesome, btw. she's going to run out of apprentices if she keeps it up, however.)

I love Merlin's face in the "I remember one time..." panel. I think you managed the fire light effects quite well indeed. :) Also, I have to say I'm insanely jealous of how you manage to convey so much emotion and wealth of expression with just a few choice lines.
