So why didn't Gaius take the pendant he found on Uther straight to Arthur?

"Hey look, an enchanted amulet was found on Uther. It reverses healing magic! Probably Morgana's doing"

"Hmmm... I guess the old sorcerer wasn't at fault."

????

Awesome friggin' episode though!

I know. That bugged me too. However I know why they didnt do it. The writers were desperate to have a bloody good reason why the magic STILL had to remain a secret when Arthur was king.

That would be the one flaw with this episode but I can see why they did it. A way to keep magic outlawed for a while longer and I guess if you are really stretching prevent all out war on Morgana. I'd go for the first point there.

that bothered me too. I think my thoughts were leaning toward Gaius being so used to concealing magic from Arthur/Uther that it didn't even occur to him.

I don't know, I'm just really starting to almost dislike Gaius. I know Merlin blames himself for a lot of things that have happened, especially in terms of Morgana, but very often Merlin is doing what Gaius tells him to.

Gaius has gotten so caught up in the secrets that he doesn't know when it's useful to let them go.

Yeah. so my thoughts.

I know. That bothers me so much as Gaius never hesitated to tell Uther when he found suspicious bad magical stuff. Everyone is withholding from Arthur.:*(

I want an explanation, other than 'that would ruin the future plot.'

I had the same thought when I saw that. I've been thinking thinky thoughts about it all day. And the only thing I can really come up with is that Gaius and Merlin would have to expose Agravaine as a collaborator with Morgana if they bring that amulet up; how else do they explain how it got there? And they haven't got any solid proof he's a traitor, so Arthur wouldn't believe them. And in the process, they make Agravaine aware they're watching him, and that there's something not... quite... mundane... about the pair of them.

That's a lot of and's. LOL. Anyway, I thought the acting and the lighting in this episode were AMAZING. And the look on Merlin's face when Arthur opens the door after his vigil, with the light washing over him in his private despair, while that beautiful sad music plays... *happy fangirl sigh* I want more like that!
