Well, It's been awhile, eh? Hey, I've been busy!

I've been working hard on my comic. And finally I've hit the point where I can say that there will be no abandoning. It will be 6 pages (52 panels) long with a few extras.

Currently, everything is drawn. First two pages are inked. Colouring to follow.

If fates allow, it will be ready to post up in May 2011.

Well, okay then... so...

*drumroll*

I am pleased (and scared shitless) to announce my WW2 AU comic inspired by the BBC's "Merlin" entitled, "Ich Hatt Einen Kameraden"

You can click on the image to make it bigger, if necessary.

So, right off the bat, I'd like to say that art in the actual comic will not be as grand as this little teaser, but will be on par with my other comics. I just wanted to go all out for this faux "cover".

Also, just throwing this out there before you get too excited - it WILL CONTAIN  Major Character Death and Battlefield Related Violence. Thought you ougtta know.

You ever get that feeling that you just jinxed something?...... lé sigh....

It will be great! You are so brave to do such hard work!

I'm sorry, maybe "hatte", not "hatt"?

Thanks for the suggestion! I don't speak a lick of German, so I'm trying my damnedest to get it accurate. I've learned that while the online translators are okay, I still need my German beta look it over, otherwise it probably reads like engrish, lol!

And while you're right - the few online translators I've looked at don't recognize "hatt" and say "hatte=had/have", I'm pulling the title straight from the Volkstrauertag song of the same name and all searches on the title of the song have it as "hatt". It's even etched in stone at war memorials.

I don't know why there's a discrepancy but, considering the subject matter, I'm not going to argue with war memorials, LOL!

Thanks again for your comment and your help!

And if anyone knows what's up with the apostrophe after "hatt" in the song title (at least on the wikipedia article), let me know! That's been bugging me for months!

If it is the song, it is right. Maybe it is colloquial or becose of two "e". And there are "nit" ("nicht" in Hochdeutsh) and so. I'm not so good in German too.
Many thanks for link to song, so simple and so scary, and so like Arthur and Merlin.
Good luck in work!

apostrophe?

I don't know much German, either, but I'm teaching myself a bit and I've fallen in love with a bunch of German music. A lot of songs feature an apostrophe at the end of words in several different points in their lyrics, and from what I can work out grammatically they're verbs. I think to fit the meter of the song they slur/leave off the final 'e' at the end and replace it with an apostrophe, similar to how in English we say "can't" instead of "cannot." That idea began as a guess, but then I started recognizing words that I actually knew how to conjugate. Anyways, to answer your question, I think you're BOTH right -- it WOULD be "hatte" grammatically, but it's probably "hatt'" in the title for meter.

Also, I'm really looking forward to that comic, especially because I'm also a WW2 geek. :D
