And then Merlin bowed his head in submission, awaiting Arthur’s judgment.
Arthur stared down at his manservant with incredulity. “Are you really just going to kneel there and let me lop off your head? You’re a sorcerer!” Arthur grabbed a handful of neckerchief and tugged at it so forcefully that it made Merlin’s head snap back and his teeth rattle. “Fight back, dammit!” he growled menacingly, sliding the blade up to kiss the pulsepoint in Merlin’s neck.

Title: The Cuffs of Isernhæft
But unlike Uther and the guards, Merlin’s body was not still. Instead, he was thrashing about on the stone floor in what looked to be some kind of seizure. And it was no wonder, for Merlin’s entire body was limned with arcs of crackling static so bright blue-white that it hurt Arthur’s eyes, even through the smoke-filled haze. Merlin’s mouth was open in a silent scream, and one of his long-fingered hands clutched at his heart. Branches of the unnatural lightning filled his open mouth and made his eyes--which were rolled back so far into his skull that all Arthur could see was the whites of them--glow that same eerie colour.

I went through many different expressions for Merlin's face in the first piece, and one of my favourite ones was more "shit himself in fear" than "submissive" - it still looked pretty neat though, lol!

I love how you did a double piece to show both angles of the first scene. Their expressions are perfect, I love how you capture expressions, it never ceases to amaze me. the lighting is just supreme.
and the second!!! oooooooooooh let me find the words. The effects and action Ghah!!!! I can't wait to read that scene. This was so worth the wait. As always I bow to your creative genius. I will NEVER tire of looking at your art. I give you all the kudos <3 <3 <3 these are epic!

Also, I loved the dividers you did for the story-the throwing dagger in the apple, the infinity wreath of holly, oak and ivy and esp those deadly beautiful cuffs-each one was AMAZING!!

Date: 2014-10-06 08:23 pm (UTC)And of course, the dungeon scene...poor Merlin! We do love to whump him, don't we? But his suffering is so clear in every tense line, the open mouthed scream, the clawed hands, one of them clutching his heart... Whew!
Also, I adore the depth of field of it, how your eye is riveted on Merlin; so much so that everything else fades into the background. Also the, smoke and steam rising from the scorched straw...the ring of glowing embers! *Kermit flails*
I also loved, loved, loved the headers and I think you should include them here! The details on the cuffs, with the runes and the glow from the inside, the leaves of varying colours, the delicate chain....EEEEE
The Gleeman's knife in the apple is PERFECT and just what I imagined, and the infinity symbol in the holly, oak, and ivy (all mentioned in the story) is gorgeous with it's watercolour feel!
It was a complete privilege working with you! I loved it...and you! <3 *glomps you hard*
